Forgotten Fairytales was created by William Moore, a British writer, performer, musician and storyteller fascinated by the tales we inherit - and what we make of them.
If you found your way here through William’s folklore videos, welcome. These books and the audio drama are where that curiosity grows into original fiction.

Forgotten Fairytales began with an illustrated trilogy of dark folklore and poetry. It has grown into a wider body of storytelling, including the continuing supernatural audio drama The Grimoire Diaries.
Its stories draw on folklore, mythology, nursery rhymes and superstition as material for original fiction. Wonder, melancholy, humour and horror all have a place here.
You can enjoy each project on its own terms. Discovering more should feel like curiosity rewarded, with no required reading before you begin.
